Furniture design for UZ Leuven campus Gasthuisberg

Deel van de Catalogus Public Furniture

As part of the master plan for the public space of the Gasthuisberg campus, NU is seeking to create a unifying identity for the hospital through welcoming spaces, infrastructure, materiality, visual language and ergonomics. The approach is that the furniture should emphasise the public character.

This is achieved, among other things, through furniture that is specifically developed for the campus in a uniform and recognisable language, made with tactile and robust materials for both indoor and outdoor use, spread across the site.

Two benches were developed:

Bench 1:
The bench becomes a solid cushion due to its geometry. Wood is used for the inside, concrete for the outside.

Bench 2:
The bench in a lighter version in perforated steel, for outside use.
