Last week, we were honoured to receive the Steel Award 2024 in the category of Architectural Elements for the canopy designed for Rode Straat at UZ Leuven, Gasthuisberg campus.
The jury: “The repetition of a prefabricated folded steel 3D shelter creates a covered circulation axis within the complex series of different hospital buildings. With its refined finish, detailing, repetition, and red color, the structure forms a clear connecting element. This contributes to the reassuring and essential wayfinding for visitors and users of these diverse environments in what can sometimes be a confusing and stressful setting.”
In collaboration with Mouton (structural engineering), Erik D’hont (landscape design) and Verhofsté.
