Lemberge – winning competition

It has been a while since the announcement, but we are still delighted to share that we have won the Open Call for the design study for the landscape integration and construction of 65 residential care units, 11 student rooms, 10 flexible residential units for the elderly, and associated facilities on the Lemberge site in Merelbeke.
The core challenge of this assignment lies in creating a lively and welcoming place by intelligently reusing existing infrastructure and positioning new structures for a new program. Our approach uses architecture to enhance the spatial quality, mitigate the impact of the nearby traffic infrastructure, and restore the connection between the surrounding landscape and life on site. A particularly exciting aspect of this project is to integrate and connect the student housing and senior housing in a thoughtful way, in order to stimulate meaningful interaction between generations.
We look forward to further developing the spatial ambitions in a rich dialogue with the client and to developing a shared architectural language together.
